Wow! So much to be thankful for these past two weeks!!
I missed last week’s Thankful Thursday Post because I was in the African bush looking for giraffe, elephants, lions, zebras and leopards.. and boy did we see them (that will be a post in itself at a later time)!! 🐘🐆🦁🦏
This Thursday though, I am so thankful for the most amazing, supportive, adventurous, loving parents who didn’t even think twice about coming to visit me in Tanzania. Being able to share my life here with them has been so great! They’ve jumped at every new opportunity to see and experience Tanzania… the local markets, Masai cultural day, day hike to Kilimanjaro, hikes through the villages, camping safari, getting stuck during safari, trying the local banana beer, and of course meeting all my co-workers and friends!! They’ve used as much Swahili as they can remember, and have tried all the traditional African foods (ask my dad about his new favorite food..daga)!!!
Basically, what I’m trying to say is that they’re pretty awesome and I’m so lucky to have parents so willing to embrace a new culture, a new way of life, AND… a new boyfriend (which, in my opinion, has gone very well)!!!
These past two weeks have been better than I could have ever imagined, and for that, I am beyond grateful!
There will be more to come on their visit, but for this Thankful Thursday, it had to be about Mama T and Papa Frank…Mama and Baba…Bibi and Babu..because they simply are the best and I am one lucky daughter!
What are you thankful for this week??
xo, Liz
ps… next time you see my parents, greet them with “Shikamoo”, and see if they can remember the correct response 😉
So jealous. I wIsh I could go ❤️
